Motorola Leads Investment Round in GameWorld

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2001--Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT - news) announced today that it has led the current investment round in GameWorld.com, a leading producer of end-to-end game and application publishing solutions. GameWorld solutions enable rapid, inexpensive development by independent designers. Titles are automatically ready for server-based delivery and can interoperate across wireless devices, TV set-tops, PCs and embedded systems.

GameWorld's unique server infrastructure and tool set technology allows the development of a wide variety of rich networked applications, automatically supporting multiple players and client server communications. Thin client applications created with the tool set can be automatically delivered in an ASP model to any Java enabled platform. These applications encompass multi-player games, education, m-commerce, and interactive TV.

``This technology is fundamentally replacing programming and heralds a new age of software development in which designers are finally empowered to create applications without needing to speak the language of the computer,'' said John Greensage, GameWorld's founder and CEO. ``In turn, compelling user applications are the key in the battle for the exploding wireless Internet market. The OEMs and carriers that provide exciting applications will increase the early adoption of their new devices and services, garnering market share and establishing highly-lucrative long-term revenue streams.''

``Motorola Ventures is focused on identifying, understanding and creating Next Generation technologies to enrich the user experience,'' said Warren Holtsberg, Corporate Vice President and Director of Motorola Ventures. ``GameWorld's technology presents a new technology standard in the development and distribution of networked applications.''

The core technology of GameWorld is an entirely visual development environment and integrated server infrastructure. By requiring no programming or programmer support, these tools allow content creators to rapidly produce a rich variety of applications to meet their needs. Using extensions of the GameWorld toolkit, consumers can even make and share additions to their favorite titles.
